How to Use Our Data

If you have experience in a particular field, you should contact recruiters in your field, not recruiters in your location. Most recruiters who specialize in an industry or position work nationally, not just locally. So for example, if you are looking for a manufacturing job, you want to contact recruiters who specialize in manufacturing regardless of location. The recruiter in New York may have a client in Florida who has a job that meets your qualifications.

If you are an executive with experience in a particular industry, in addition to recruiters, you should contact venture capital and private equity firms in your field. These firms are investing in and re-organizing companies in your industry and could have the position you seek in one of their portfolio companies.

However, if you are just beginning your career or have less specialized experience, contacting recruiters in your location is a good way to use our information.

Sadly there is no easy recipe for finding a job – you have to do everything and do it carefully and without error – call all your friends and relatives then call all their(!) friends and relatives, answer ads, and send out hundreds, even thousands of letters and resumes in a targeted direct email, direct fax or direct postal mail campaign. Our Search System™ databases will help you in that last task – to get your personal cover letter and resume to the recruiting/search and venture capital/PE firms in your field. Our databases have been used by outplacement companies, resume writers, career coaches, and university career offices since 1987.

The Executive Search System™ – Executive search firms work to fill management positions at top companies across the U.S. and abroad. It is estimated that almost two-thirds of executive positions are filled by executive search firms. Personnel agencies work to fill professional, technical, and administrative personnel at companies. The search firms and agencies in our database are hired and paid by companies that need new employees. Contact 16,400+ US and Canadian firms and 30,000+ key contacts. 95% of the recruiter records have email addresses.

The Venture/PE Search System™ – According to Robert Litan of the Kauffman Foundation, which specializes in promoting innovation in America: “Between 1980 and 2005, virtually all net new jobs created in the U.S. were created by firms that were 5 years old or less.” Quoted by Thomas Friedman, NY Times 4/3/2010. Use our Venture/PE Search System™ to reach new venture-backed companies that have the positions you seek. Contact 2,500+ US firms and 8,000+ key contacts. 95% of the venture cap/PE records have email addresses.
